Hats

On the way home from Donna's house on Monday Jay, I, and the kids stopped in at this store. We had entirely way too much fun. We found a small grill/restaurant in the middle of the store. It looked as if we'd found lunch and boy were their onion rings delicious. Then we trailed around the store some more and found red felt cowboy hats for the kids. I've been looking for these kind of hats for a long time. They remind me of the cool red felt cowboy hat my mom had as a child. Needless to say the stop was well worth our time.

Here's a photo of Chas with his hat on amongst all our camping gear from last weekend.

Moab

Jay and I headed south to Moab this past weekend for a scooter rally. It was really quite fun. We hiked up to the delicate arch and just had fun. Here are a few photos.

Here is Jay by the delicate arch. It was such a wonderful day for hiking.

Here's one of me. It was so windy I was a little worried I might tip over and fall down. But thankfully I didn't.

Plus many thanks needs to go out to my sister so because she watched the kids during the weekend. The kids had so much fun that when we got home Bonnie asked to go see my sister again and we had to tell her it would be a long time before we were able to visit her again. Bonnie is a little sad about this.

Conversations with a three year old

Bonnie and I had this small conversation driving home from an oil change appointment for the truck.

Me: Feed some of the cereal to your brother.

Chas begins screaming in the back round and no longer has any cereal as he dumped all his out a few minutes earlier and can't figure out where it went.

Me: Bonnie are feeding your brother or just taunting him?

Bonnie: Taunting him.

How can she even know what this means. I know this is payback for the way I treated my mom when I was 14.

Teeth

Another tooth finally broke through Chas's gums today. He's been fighting this tooth since last Thursday and I couldn't be happier. When he is teething he is just not the fun loving happy boy we all know.

If you don't know the dynamics of my household Bonnie is an exact replica of Jay and myself. She is difficult to handle and with Chas's birth he has brought just a lot more fun into the family. I guess we needed someone with a laid back personality.

Needless to say when Chas is cranky the whole family suffers. I wonder what I'll do when he finally hits his terrible twos. He hasn't hit the terrible ones like Bonnie did so hopefully things will stay relatively calm with him.

Here's another photo from Sunday night - Bonnie is blowing bubbles. A new favorite past time.

Sometimes I just adore the two of them playing together.

10 years

Yesterday Jay and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary. We were lucky this year because it didn't fall during tax season and no we didn't get married after tax season because of this reason. We were married after tax season so Jay's parents could attend the wedding.

So anyway, we dropped the kids off at my sister's house yesterday morning and headed north to McCall Idaho. It is such a pretty drive. The snow in the mountains is melting and so the river that we follow up to McCall was full of rapids.

We made it to McCall by lunch and as a pregnant woman I was so hungry. Plus we had to stop for a bathroom break along the way and I found a cute hotel that I want to visit again (besides their bathroom). We ate our lunch looking out across the frozen lake at Hotel McCall. This is the old hotel that I think has always been there, there is a really nice restaurant inside. It was just so pretty. Then we slowly made our way back to Boise.

We stopped at a gun/quilt shop on the way home. Yep - those are the type of shops they have out here. It was fun finding a few of my favorite things in one store - guns and quilts! It was pretty fun talking to the guy selling guns and looking at the quilts. But the quilts weren't nearly as bright as I like but were probably more appropriate for everyone else.

We made it back to Boise and stopped at a few more stores and then picked up the kids. It was fun while we were at Suzanne's house, we took Jay out to see the chicks and duck. They had tripled in size since I last saw them and the duck is so adorable. It's a black duck and it's all fluffy!

Then we headed home and had pizza with the kids. Friday night is always pizza night at our house and everyone looks forward to this night all week long. I must say it was one of the best days every. It was really nice spending the day with my best friend and no kids to distract us.

Rest

Wow I can't believe another tax season has ended. This one was tough - a lot tougher than in the past. I had two kids versus a newborn and kid this year. They take so much effort. It was also much harder because Jay went back to the office at night which isn't our home anymore. Alas we made it!

Another tough thing about tax season is April 16th. On this day I usually go back to being mommy and it is such a rough transition for me. I'm still stressed out about taxes but am supposed to be caring for the kids. This morning I would of said this day is going to be horrible. Why you ask.

Chas went down for a nap at 9 am because he was throwing fits left and right. My original diagnosis was correct - he was cutting a tooth. I'm glad I gave him some pain medicine before he went to bed. He seemed somewhat better after his nap.

During tax season Bonnie was allowed to watch way too much TV and movies. This morning she wanted to watch a movie and I told her no. Few people have ever seen the full blown crazy temper tantrum Bonnie. I was beginning to think she might need n exorcism from the degree of this fit. Amazingly at some point she did calm down and later in the morning we went outside and everything changed.

Bonnie has been outside most of the day and it has been very therapeutic for her and me. We picked up a great shovel at Jo-Anns fabrics that is just her size. She has been having fun digging in the sand all afternoon. I am looking forward to her crashing and falling asleep tonight.

Easter came and went for us. We had a really fun egg hunt and Suzanne's family joined us for the event. It turned out really nice. As soon as everyone left I fell asleep on the couch - I was exhausted. Here are a few pics of the kids hunting for eggs.

Chas found enough candy to sit and begin eating. The rest of the kids were still hunting for eggs.

lunch time

Lunch time is a dirty time at my house. Somehow tons of dishes get dirty as well as the two spots where the children sit to each lunch.

This is Chas's hands on or off approach to eating. We had Mac & Cheese yesterday and he prefers to tip the bowl so he can shovel the food into his mouth. He likes to do this with any food. Jay and I just giggle because it really is cute.

Now on a sad note - Bonnie saw pictures of my parents down in Vegas when some of my siblings and their kids were visiting. Bonnie said that's Grandma, I want to see Grandma. Then she saw my dad and said That's my Grandpa. As a very hormonal pregnant woman I was on the verge of crying. Ugh the emotions of pregnancy.
